The pains of having a PowerPC at heart

Let's admit it: I (still) own one of those old PowerPC based Mac computers: the last of it's kind, the iBook 14". I mean, few months later, the Intel Macs came to life, and everything changed...

Change was not that bad. I knew with the time there will be less and less support to the PowerPC processor (In fact I am pretty surprised that still now, most of the new applications could still run on PPC architecture). Nah, compiling the PPC version was not such a big deal (XCode does it for cheap) the problem would be: less efficient code (Intel is far more powerful, there is no restriction in how far to go).

In most of the cases I have no problem in staying with old version of software (the ones that came out on 2005/2006)... but in many cases (Internet, security patches, audio/video formats) it's not possible to stay still...

So this is going to be the place for me to write about the troubles of trying to keep more or less up to date (and performant) an old Mac computer:
