TV on TV: Infomania

Sometimes in Spain we could get the impression that TV in USA is great. Just think: The Wire, Sopranos, Mad Men, Dexter ... or Battlestar Galactica, Fringe, Lost,... Or even more mainstream stuff like Glee, Big Bang Theory, 30 Rock,... (Disclimer, except for the first 2 or 3, I really don't think they are that exciting, but because you, reader, probably do, then this is a valid example). Those programs are that great, that we may even think that USA has a trendy and educated audience... Really?

So to get a clear picture, we have every week InfoMania at Current TV (Current TV is quite classy new TV Channel promoted by no less than Al Gore). What matters here, is unlike other TV Websites or HULU, they are do not block access from outside USA. So you can watch their programs directly.

Here it is as sample the program of a few weeks ago:

Infomania is not exactly just a program on TV: it covers also printed press (magazines mostly), music, and Internet phenomena. But most of the content is focused on television. Because it is a weekly program and it is based on recent facts, there are plenty of high and lows. Depending on what goes one during that week. But from here in Spain is one of the best and funniest ways to keep up to date with USA news.

Jersey Shore? You got it!:

(This is a double threat: it is not only about the infamous punch on Jersey Shore, but also a pun on the nature documentary that is currently being narrated by Oprah - A ver, como si en España pusieran documentales doblados por Buenafuente o Pilar Rubio: me parece un poco mierda como reclamo a la audiencia).

Aren't you fed up about Tiger Woods? Yeah there were plenty of Tiger Wood at Infomania too:

But this is just an example on how you will keep up to date on what goes on in USA. But my favourite part of this program is when they just center on timeless issues. On how bizarre could TV be. Here is my list of favourite clips:

Happiest Man on TV

People Breaking Stuff

The line several times world champions in destroing things is soooo unbelievable. I really wonder how the could come up with this shit.

Post-Apocalyptic Man

(A ver, vale, que el History Channel es una mierda. Pero se supone que al menos trataba el pasado - tal vez inventado. ¿Pero es que hacer una semana dedicada a un futuro post-apocaliptico? A cagarse.

Target Women

TV Deaths on the week february 05 2010

Umbelievable Soap Operas

By the way, I found out about Infomania because of Viral Video Film School, but that's another story. It deserves a post on its own.
